Narciss is a very interesting camera as it is in effect the first miniature 16mm Single lens reflex. The Narciss looks like a 35mm SLR that has been shrunk. This camera was produced from 1961 to 1965. 70% of the cameras were produced in 1964 so this is the most common year by far. The earliest Narciss cameras had a plate on the rear with the warning engraved on it.
Narciss camera has an unusual interchangeable prism that is short and just barely protrudes above the body. It appears that the waist level finder was never produced. The front of the camera has a lacquer and fabric covered bottom and a chromed top. The top is engraved directly over the lens with Narciss, in either Cyrillic or English and red filled. The right side of the top deck has the rapid wind lever. This lever appears to be ratcheted but must travel through the full stroke to advance the film and cock the shutter. below the advance lever is a dial to set the frame number in the window just forward of it. The shutter speed must be set after the camera is cocked and has speeds of B,500,250,125,60,15,8,4,2 and 30. On the front of the top deck centered between the shutter dial and the wind lever is the threaded shutter release. On the left side of the top deck is the rewind knob with a film reminder and 2 flash sockets for bulbs and electronic flash. The camera has a removable back and bottom with the rewind button on the bottom.
The variations are as follows: 1.Cyrillic engraving. 2.English engraving. 3.Cream white finish instead of black. These cameras are not common with the black being the most common and the cream camera with English engraving being very rare. The interchangeable lenses for this camera are extremely rare.
Caution:
Do not change the speeds on this camera unless the shutter is cocked!
