Description:

Photographic catadioptric lens with multi-layer anti-reflection coating of the optical surfaces designed as an interchangeable lens for reflex cameras with 24x36 mm frame size. The lens can be used with black-and-white and color film. The lens has a macro mode. Closest focusing distance is 2.2 m. The lens can be rotated in its tripod mounting ring. The lens is designed for photo hunting, photographing of close-up landscapes, architectural details, sporting events and other distant objects.

NOTE. These lenses may not work on all 35mm cameras with built in flash or other protruding devices on the front. The lens diameter at the mounting flange is 120mm (60 mm radius). Lens design

The thread in the front part of the lens serves for screwing in the lens hood and attachments. The distance scale serves for approximate focusing; the distance values are shown in meters and in feet. The focusing is performed by rotation the ring. Accurate focusing is performed by a ground glass of the camera. There is a ring with tripod nut. This ring allows also to rotate the lens within 90 degrees range (and orient a picture horizon therefore).

Operating procedure

Take off the rear cap. Screw in the lens into the camera until stop.
Since the lens is quite heavy, it is recommended to use a tripod. This will also allow to rotate the lens with the camera.
The lens focusing is performed by rotation the focusing ring until the sharpest possible image of the object is obtained on the ground glass. The distance range is from 4m. Macro mode allows to get pictures of 1:6 to 1:4 scale.
The delivery set includes following light filters:
UV-1.4x - is a colorless one used to weaken the influence of ultraviolet light (that is especially noticeable in mountains and on a blue water. It is used both in black-and-white and color photography.
O-4x - is an orange one helping to take contrast image (black-and-white photography). It weakens influence of atmospheric haze.
YG-8x - is a yellow-green one used to correct the tone rendition in black-and white photography on panchromatic film both with natural and artificial light.
The lens hood is used to remove side beams of light sources.

Lens care

Photographic lens is a complicated and sensitive optical instrument that needs careful handling. Disassembling of the lens for repair should be done in the special repair shops only. The lens can be used at temperature range from -15°C to +45°C. When bringing the lens from cold into a warm room, don't open its case to prevent fogging of optical details. Allow the lens to warm up in the closed case during 3 hours. Seep the caps mounted on the lens when it is not in use. Protect the lens from moisture, dirt and fast temperature changes. Take care of the coated surface of the lens; moisture not wiped promptly may damage a coating layer. Don't touch the optical surfaces. Remove dust from surface with a clean soft degreased hair brush. Dirty spots can be removed with a cotton wool moistured in rectified alcohol a bit. Use few cotton wool pieces if there is much dirt. Clean the surface with circular motions, gradually moving from the center of the lens to its edges.
