If you did not find what you need in our catalog
If you did not find what you need in our catalog, please drop us a note with a description of the necessary adapter. There are 3 ways to describe this: a drawing, a sketch, and a description.
  • 1
Drawing. The most preferable way is to draw necessary item with all dimensions and tolerances specified. What is obvious to you may not be so obvious to us. Therefore, a complete technical drawing is the best way to show everything clearly.
The sample drawing is shown below. It is a cross-section of the necessary item; you can show both internal and external contours with all dimensions of a not very complex item in a single view. We have a simple online adapter configuration tool that will help you to build a basic adapter with necessary dimension. Please try it.

Sketch. A sketch is more simple than a drawing and does not require precise aspect ratios. It is usually made by hand, but should contain all dimensions anyway.
Below is a sketch sample. It is a bit incomplete, but it gives enough info to start with. If you provide a similar sketch, I'll make a technical drawing and send it back to you for confirmation. If some important dimensions are missing, I'll ask about them.

Description. This is the most complex way to describe what you need, since one drawing is worth a thousand words. But this is still possible if you can't or don't want to draw anything.
Please take note that the description should contain dimensions, not just lens names. The reason is very simple - I can't know every lens ever made. Moreover, I had many cases where lenses with the same name had different designs and dimensions. That is why we can't make or advise any adapter based on the lens name alone.
Sample of a bad description: I need a filter thread adapter for my Helios lens.
    — Such a request is impossible to fulfill since nothing is known, neither the desired filter size nor the lens filter thread.
Sample of acceptable description: I want to use 77mm screw-in filters on my Helios lens with a 52mm filter thread.
    — Well. Now we know that you need a step-up ring from 52mm to 77mm filter thread. Actually, there are many cheap generic step rings on the market, and I'll point you to this instead of making an expensive version of those rings, since this does not make much sense and will not give you any advantage.
Sample of a good description: I need an adapter with M77x0.75 female thread (3.5mm deep) and M52x0.75 male thread (3mm long).
    — This is similar to the acceptable description but is much better since it specifies thread pitches (0.75mm), thread type (female or male), and thread length/depth. This info is enough to build a perfectly matching adapter without many doubts or additional questions. If you need some help determining you thread parameters, please read our guide on measuring threads.
Sample of perfect description: I need an adapter with M50x1 female thread (5mm deep) and M65x1.5 male thread (10mm long). It should have a flange with 69mm diameter and 2mm thickness. It will be used to mount a Leica Achromat 1.0X (part # 10411589) objective to a Leica microscope (model M125).
    — This description is perfect since it describes the necessary adapter completely, including auxiliary elements like the flange dimensions. Also, it explains how this adapter will be used. This is a really important part of the description, since we are always looking for new product ideas. If your product is interesting and has some commercial potential, you can get it with a significant discount or even free of charge in some cases.
