Compensating eyepieces are used with apochromatic objectives, with high power achromatic objectives, and with medium and high power planachromatic objectives.

Photo eyepieces are purposed to project image to a film, screen or sensor.

It seems this eyepiece matches a LOMO Planachromat 40x microscope objective perfectly. But I think it can be used with other objectives as well.
