M40x0.75 female thread to 48mm microscope dovetail adapter

This mount / adapter allows Copal-0 / M40 lenses to fit the Vivitar Bellows system.

There are several adapter types available but this one eliminates all extra extension, so that shorter FL lenses can be used.

I specifically needed this adapter to enable shooting of Lincoln Cents (19mm diameter) using the Tominon 50mm lens (as shown in second pic) on Vivitar bellows. Using the standard M42x0.75 to M40x0.75 adapters available on the web, the extension is too long and the Cent extends beyond the sensor frame.

In the past, I was forced to use Nikon 63mm EL-Nikkor lenses for this purpose, but they are quite expensive, and because they have longer FL they can't achieve as high a magnification at full extension. Using the Tominon, I can get to around 3:1 magnification, so this is an ideal setup for folks wanting to photograph from 19mm FOV down to around 5mm FOV (vertical).

Note that it is possible to make a shorter camera adapter, but then the camera position (rotation) would be limited. The standard T2-EOS adapters are long enough to allow full rotation on the Vivitar Bellows.

I chose the Tominon range because the 50mm is a superb lens, and if even higher magnification is needed, the Tominon line includes a 35mm and a 17mm lens with the same M40 mount.
